Sand and Screenings

The bedding layer is what a paver, a patio stone or a pipe actually sits on, so it needs to be fine, level and firm. Unwashed screenings are the standard levelling bed under interlock and slabs. Manufactured sand is a crushed, angular sand that packs well for paver bedding and jointing, and goes into concrete and mortar mixes. Quarter inch chip is the clean small stone used to bed and surround pipe, tile and conduit.
